This is Owlie’s second selfie.
He asked me if he could take a picture of himself yesterday. I let him do his thing with my phone. This was the result.
Can we talk about it for a minute?
Look at the way he’s looking at himself. He likes what he sees. He thinks he’s great. I could take a lesson from that boy.
Look at his little tongue. It’ everything he can do to keep it from popping right out of his mouth to ruin the picture. What self control!
Look at his little teeth. I’m happy to report that this picture is proof his spill on the sidewalk two years ago did not kill his front tooth like we thought it would. The dentist has confirmed that the tooth, which had started to turn brown, changed its mine and decided to go white again and live a long baby tooth life. Yay!
Look at his hair. I can’t wait for Summer sun to bleach it out white. He’s taken to combing in so he can get a “wave” in the front. It’s really long right now. I’m tempted to just get a trim and let him keep it longer. I like it.
Look over his shoulder. That clock was built by my grandfather. It sat in our basement for ten years because it was a hideous orangey oak. Finally I decided to paint it. Two coats of Annie Sloan chalk paint later, we hung it on the wall and have loved it ever since. The Hubby winds it once a week and I love the slight ticking sound it makes as the pendulum swings back and forth. That clock is a perfect example of putting a project off for far too long and then just doing it and enjoying the results immensely.
The clock is a reminder to me in this picture. A reminder that my little boy is growing up too fast. He’s taking selfies, for crying out loud! Man, time is a meanie. But I do love that clock.

That clock looks so much better. It was suppose to be made of pine but my dad thought oak was a much better and stronger wood. I never liked the that clock in oak but I love it now. Good choice to paint it although there are some who might not think so….LOL, like the builder of it.
I think it's great that the clock is being used. Time is always ticking. And we do best to savor every tick by enjoying and appreciating what we have.
I love the tech contrast between cell phone selfie and hand built clock with little boy standing between the two.
