It Has Begun . . .

There comes a time in the life of each Lee child when it happens.  I’ve just recently noticed that the Owlie’s transformation has begun. Soon, he will be just like the rest of his siblings.

I snapped this picture the other day while he was eating lunch. Do you see it?

It could be the pale skin.  We’re not exactly a tan bunch over here. But that’s not it.

It could be the white hair.  Big C’s hair was the exact same shade {or lack of a shade} until he was about six.  Even Hannie B. had white blond hair for her first few summers, but that’s not it either.

Here’s a shot I snapped of all the kids when we did Owlie’s photo shoot for his second birthday.  If you click on this picture to enlarge it, you might see what I’m talking about.

Give up?  Okay, I’ll make it obvious for you.

My baby boy is getting his spots.  The right to passage as a Lee child is the appearance of freckles.  We’ve all got ‘em and now Owlie has officially arrived.

Believe me, I rub sunscreen on those chubby cheeks with the precision of a pro, but to no avail.  The freckles come.  They just do. And they are so, so, so unbelievably cute.

Welcome to the club little spotted owl.

A face without freckles is like a night without stars.

I love Melissa's description too! I believe a spotted face is a beautiful face!

I'm sorry I've disappeared off the blogosphere for a month. I'm trying to get back on track.

It's from the song Freckles by Natasha Bedingfield. Lovely song.

With a newly spotted owl in your home, perhaps you should submit Owlie's personal data to the EPA. They have a program for spotted owls that could save you big bucks on food, clothing and college costs...
