Opposites . . .

Photo by Kevin Schindler, who loves Shania Twain. Thanks Kev!

Last night was a contrast to the previous one. We’re calling it “From Wicked to Righteous”.

The Hubby and I joined friends for a night under the stars with a delicious picnic and the completely uplifting sounds of the Mormon Tabernacle Choir.

It has to be said – I’d love ‘em even if I wasn’t a Mormon myself.  There is something quite electrifying about so many beautiful voices joined in unison singing music that praises God and uplifts one’s soul.

And there was some funk in there too! Alex Boye had a few solos during the Negro Spiritual tributes. And the man did the robot. In front of the Tabernacle Choir. It was awesome.

I laid back on my quilt, holding my Hubby’s hand, listening to one of their signature pieces, “Come, Come, Ye Saints” and watching fireflies  flit to and fro above my head, feeling like a very blessed woman. It was definitely a moment for me.

This Summer is already rockin’ my world people. And it’s only going to get better.

The scenery you described is of a perfect evening. A choir is something really impressive. The power of wonderful different voices singing together...
Sure your Summer is great, and I agree that it will be better. A good start to being an awesome Summer, I hope is your vac to the beach with all your family. (The Queen told me).

That sounds uplifting and beautiful. Glad you had that opportunity.

Alex Boye came to Cokeville two summers ago as part of our 24th of July celebration. L. Tom Perry's wife is from here, so for several years he has come as the grand marshall in our parade and invites another general authority to speak at a devotional. In 2009 we were privileged to hear from Elder Quinten Cook and hear a solo from Alex Boye. It was an amazing, soulful rendition of "How Great Thou Art". Even though we're in the middle of nowhere, occasionally we get some culture here too!

Your Grandpa Vic was probably right there enjoying it with you and I bet singing right along. It will be hard to top the past couple of days but we'll give it a try starting on Saturday.

Lucky Lady! And I agree with you. Nothing quite sounds as beautiful as the Mormon Tabernacle Choir.
