Do you want to know something I love? I love to laugh. It makes me feel happy, healthy – alive! I don’t have to work too hard at finding reasons to laugh. My kids are a constant source of entertainment in that respect. This week did not disappoint. Two incidents in particular put the funny in my funny bone and both of them involved this girl.
This picture is a little dated, but illustrates a good point. Hannie B. has always worn her hair without bangs. She’s got a pretty fierce cowlick right in the front of her forehead that makes it impossible to even try bangs. That hasn’t stopped her from pining for bangs for a few years now. One Christmas she even asked for clip-on bangs from Santa. Unfortunately Santa researched and found that clip on bangs were $65 and cited the cowlick as a reason why Hannie B. shouldn’t have bangs.
Well this week H.B. spent hours playing around with her hair. Then on my birthday she came down stairs, ready for school, looking like this:
Then she announced, “How do you like my Ba Bangs?” She was so proud! If you look close enough, you can see the cowlick trying to eek its way out. We sprayed it all up real good and I sent her on her way. She came home with her usual hair and told me the cowlick had made itself known by the time she got to school. There is just no taming that beast! Still, the whole thing made me giggle and appreciate her effort to acquire bangs.
Interestingly enough, the other incident that made me laugh (hard!) this week also had to do with hair. I gave Mr. Ollie a little trim this week because his ‘do was looking shaggy. When it was done I came down to sweep up the hair off the kitchen floor but someone had already done it for me. I didn’t think about it again until dinner that night when we got out our manners pig, Hammy. He looked different! Maybe it was the new ‘do Hannie B. had given him with the help of a little syrup. Cracked me up!
How about you? What’s got you laughing lately?

I like your manners pig with that hair! Hannie B has good taste! That made em laugh too.
I think laughing is the best medicine ever! I try to do it in a daily basis.
The lovely Audrey Hepburn thought that laughing was the best calorie burner. I agree. What does your Manners pig do?
Recently Joel asked my if I send him a few things. This required a trip to the Military Clothing store. I thought I knew where it was on post even though I had never been there before. After school I took Alec and Cora into the "military clothing store." It's the LIQUOR store!! Cora turned to me and said, "Can I have a treat?" I said, "Not from this store."
a fierce cowlick must be a family thing because I have TWO and each of my girls is sporting one. No bangs in our family either. Sorry Hannie.
Is the hair glued to the pig?
Love to laugh. Just hearing my kids laugh makes me laugh.
Thanks for the great laugh with the syrupy toupee, Hannah B.! Hilarious. P.S. You have GREAT hair!
Cowlicks, those darn cowlicks are not a girls best hair friend. On the other hand, laughing is everyone's best friends. I love that Hannie B.
