I have always struggled with decorating my mantle! Today I found a decorating blog (it's a total weakness for me) that asked you to share a picture of your mantle for others to see and get ideas from. So, here it is! I change it about once a month - and only one thing stays the same every time. The painting "Rescue of the Lost Lamb" by Minerva Teichert was a gift to me from The Hubby for our anniversary last year and I love it, even when nothing else seems to look right up there! Thanks Kariandkijsa for the challenge!

Your mantel/mantle always looks fabulous. What fun and talented ladies kari and kijsa are. I checked out their site in between cleaning our bathroom and heading to the basement to iron a few, you know, jammies.
Nice post on RedDog, nothing worse though than an editing Queen from afar.
Hi, it's nice to meet you. Your mantle looks very nice. Thanks for visiting my blog. To get the LDS blinkie you go here http://leeloublogs.blogspot.com/2008/05/lds-link-buttons.html
Your mantel looks great!
Now you are going to have to keep updating us as you make changes. I'm amazed that you redecorate so often. I am so lazy.
Pretty mantel! I love the painting. Is it an original?
I see you have a grouping of finials, which I adore. Do you have others?
I have a small collection, 9 so far, that I am adding to as I find interesting ones.
I have enjoyed reading your blog and will be visiting often!

Good work Sam! Your mantle is beautiful just like everything else in your house.
I'm pretty boring myself when it comes to decorating. I just have tons of family pictures on my mantel. It's really the only place I have to display them.
I love your mantel - and the picture is just beautiful! I found your blog through the "shared mantels" on Kari and Kijsa's blog! Thanks for sharing!
Chris from Refining Life,
The painting is not an original, but a glycee print - it's a copy printed with texture on high quality canvas to give it the look of an original.
I'm pretty sure the original is in a museum somewhere - Minerva Teichert was a famed Mormon artist.
Thanks for asking!
Just getting around to viewing all the mantel posts! You did a great job with yours! Love the bird pictures. You have a nice blog...enjoyed my visit!

very pretty sammy.
i need a good mantle. its one of the things i'd like to change about my house - they did the old "put a hole above the fireplace to put a tv here" routine so I have a deep space to fill instead of just a nice mantle. I'd like to fill it all up and make it flat with a bookshelf or something. but this is another discussion for later...
This is my first time on your blog. I think your mantel looks great!
