Another First Time Thing …

Monday night was a night of firsts for me.

I took my daughter to her first concert.

I became a complete embarrassment to my daughter for the first time at a concert.

I got to go to a concert with my big sister for the first time.

I got to go to a concert with my sister-in-law for the first time.

I got to go to a concert with my mom for the first time.

I got to take a friend from Spain to a concert for the first time.

With so many firsts, do I even need to say it was pretty awesome? We went to see Mindy Gledhill play at a little venue nearby. My friend Nona came down from her travels in New York City to join us and my sister drove in from Ohio.

Have you heard Mindy Gledhill’s music? She’s whimsical and happy, nostalgic and indie. I really love her music, mostly because when ever I listen to it I feel extremely joyful. Go get a listen on iTunes and tell me what you think. The concert was opened by Spencer Harrison of a group called Mideau. I’m really liking their stuff now too. I shared their new EP Way With Words with Big C and he was an instafan. It’s a rare moment when I get to introduce that teen boy to music he likes. Usually it’s the other way around.

Hannie B. brought her best friend Nicole as an early birthday present. They were the first in line to get CDs and posters autographed by Mindy after the concert. We all took the chance to take a picture with Mindy on our way out the door. It is a very happy picture – especially when you get a glimpse of my mom photobombing us in the background. That woman is my favorite!

Let me know what your favorite music is right now so I can add it to my iPod!

Best non-classical music concert I've ever attended! I still can't believe we got to meet Mindy and Spencer. It was like we all had back stage passes. And I loved that Mindy did a Spanish stage shout out to our dear Aiketa!
