Can you guess what this picture is?
It’s got a little story behind it. Bear with me. A few weeks before Christmas The Hubby sprung a gift idea on me. He told me that he wanted “Crazy Socks” as a gift.
I made the mistake of internalizing that information in this way: normally my straight laced, buttoned up, traditional dressing Hubby wears socks in one of three solid colors – black, navy or khaki. His socks are the exact opposite of Crazy Socks. His socks are Boring Socks.
I went to our local Marshalls where I found navy and green striped socks. I also found some tamely colored argyle socks, departing from The Hubby’s normal solid scheme.
On Christmas Day when he opened his socks, I immediately knew I had failed. “These are not Crazy Socks,” he lamented. He wore the non-Crazy socks as a consolation, but I vowed then and there that I would knock his socks off for his birthday.
This picture represents the rainbow vomit that is now the beginning of my Hubby’s budding Crazy Sock collection. When he opened the socks, his face lit up like a kid’s. “Now THESE are CRAZY SOCKS!” he exclaimed.
I had a lady at church ask me if he was going through a mid-life crisis. His socks were an indication to her that he had lost his mind. I told her if Crazy Socks was his mid-life crisis, I couldn’t be happier. Another man asked him why he was wearing Hannie B’s socks to church. The Hubby couldn’t be more pleased. He’s wearing Crazy Socks and people are noticing! Success!
Have you ever decided to make a bold change in your fashion? It is fun to see this conservative love of mine shake it up just a little. I’m crazy for him and his Crazy Socks.
PS. Speaking of crazy, our kids missed the ENTIRE WEEK of school last week due to snow and sub-zero temps. We all have cabin fever! It feels like we haven’t quite gotten into a routine since before Christmas. That is CRAZY.
