My Big C went to the Homecoming dance on Saturday night. He and thirty other Sophomores gathered for dinner at a friends house before the dance.
We arrived early for pictures. And then this happened.
I love my kid. I think he’s great. But it’s still an adjustment for a momma to see her boy thronged by beautiful girls all enthusiastically stating, “I want my pictures with Chris!”.
It’s also surreal to have multiple mothers of said girls coming up to tell you how much their daughters adore your son. How he’s wonderful, considerate, gentlemanly, sensitive and kind to them.
It’s a relief, really. It makes me feel like we’ve done something right as parents. Or maybe the relief is because we haven’t totally messed him up with our craziness.
It is of utmost importance to The Hubby and I that our sons learn to respect and revere women/girls. Chris is best friends with the girls in this picture. They trust him. He has earned that trust.
He is a lot like his dad.
He looked very handsome, if I do say so myself. I picked out his new tie and shirt. He was wary of mixing patterns, but he looked super GQ. The new haircut is a change for him. Gone are the curls. Gone is much of the light blond from the summer. He looks older.
I can’t believe in two months I’ll have a 16 year old. Somebody please stop time NOW.
Do you want to hear about the dance? Come back tomorrow!
