The Craze …

dragon's blood

While we were in Utah we had to indulge in the big craze of Shave Ice. It’s not the “SnowCone” of my youth, that’s for sure! No more pebbly textured hard as rock ice bits that don’t keep their flavor syrup. This stuff is the finest shaved ice around, softer than snow and it melts in your mouth.

Big C loves the flavor Dragon’s Blood. He gets his with double syrup, extra large every time. Weirdo.

Hannie B. takes hers straight up rainbow with cream on top. Seriously people, they pour heavy cream over the top and turn any flavor into a creamsicle. I’m not gonna lie. It is completely delicious.

This RedDog of mine, he’s a chameleon. He doesn’t have a regular flavor. He tried something new each time we went to get Shave Ice. Oh, did I forget to mention that we had to stop by a few times to make sure it was as yummy as it seemed? Silly me. The flavor of the day this time around? Lime!

My tiniest fellow loved the Shave Ice so much, he decided to make a date of it. Smart, that one. We are dying to get a Shave Ice shack in our town. We’ve even contemplated opening one ourselves. How about you, have you tried Shave Ice?

I would buy one every day if I lived in UT. I would get very fat but I would be fat and happy.

Yum! My aunt in Urbana MD actually bought a snowcone shack and helped their teens run a business selling it at swim meets, community events, out of their garage, etc. Their son just left on a mission, all paid for by the $ he earned running the Snow Shack! So if you're in any way serious...they are now looking to sell it!

I checked with Wikipedia and according to what it says there I've eaten snow cone. We have it here too.
What I've never seen before is a snow cone with cream on top. And I believe you, it must be delicious.
Have a great weekend!

But you usually only can find two flavors: strawberry or lemon. And that's it. :(

We love shaved ice, any excuse works to go get one. Family night? Let's go! Mid day break? Let's go! Friends over? Let's go! Some of my kids faves are the "Cinderella"- which is blue cotton candy and wedding cake flavors, Butter beer which is red cream soda and cream. There are so many good combos!

Just catching up on your blog! We are so excited to be back in the land of Shaved Ice! Our little local Shaved Ice stand sells massive ones for $1...Emily and Abby walked back home to tell us in utter amazement that anything that good is only $1 these days!
