Sunday Afternoon …

planet earth

Yesterday at my house. Three o’clock in the afternoon.

Gorgeous light spilling in and all of my boys watching cave silk worms catching bugs with their mucous. Excellent times, I tell ya.

We try to make Sunday a special day at our house. One where we don’t do the things we do the rest of the week. There’s no shopping or playing with friends. We don’t participate in sports or go to the movies. We spend the day doing two things: worshipping God & Jesus Christ and being together as a family.

Lately our afternoon, after church routine has been to change out of our fancy church clothes, eat snacks together and then turn on Planet Earth. While we don’t watch too much other television on Sundays {besides the occasional Downton Abbey, of course}, this show is a perfect fit for our Sundays. Everyone is still fascinated by the stunning footage of our planet and its animal inhabitants five years after we first saw it.

Owlie is particularly enamored as Planet Earth is entirely new to him. His favorite right now is the ocean. He loves the dolphins, the starfish, the regular fish, but especially the sharks!

What do you do on Sundays? Is it a slower paced, family filled day for you?

And do you think it’s about time to get RedDog new glasses? Sheesh! Look how close he is to that TV.

PS. I am in love with the back of Owlie’s head. Is that weird?

My Sunday....
Church, family dinners and visiting, reading, Masterpiece theater watching except for yesterday when I watched the last two movies in The Lord of the Rings trilogy.

Sounds like a great plan for Sundays.
One of my fav thing to do on Sundays when I'm in Girona is to go with my dad (sometimes my mom comes along too) to walk our dogs at the forest. And specially to a place where there are really beautiful views of Girona with the Pyrenees on the background on one side and the Mediterranean Sea on the other.

These past two weekends I was in Barcelona, the weather was perfect both weekends, so even though there was no forest near me, I went for walks outside. One weekend I walked to the beach and then some miles along the shore. That day I ended walking almost 10 miles. Next weekend I walked up a mountain near my flat, Montjuïc. Both walks were great because beig still in the same city, I did something really different from my everyday routine.

Enjoy Planet Earth this afternoon.
