Hannie B’s Hawaii …

If I could freeze time, I would freeze it in this moment right here.  Hannie B. on the beach in Hawaii with little Owlie in her lap, the sun shining down and gentle waves rolling in over the both of them. This moment was magical for me.

Hannie B loved her some Hawaii. She was silly, sassy and fun to be with.  At Pearl Harbor she was less interested in submarines and fleets of ships and more interested in large stuffed dolphins. Whatever.

One of the best things about Hawaii was the overabundance of beautiful flowers everywhere.  We spent many mornings picking flowers from the in-laws yard and placing them in Hannie B’s hair. It was lovely on another level.

My girl was pretty impressed with the traditional dances we saw a the Polynesian Cultural Center.  This boy was a year younger than Hannie B and he did an amazing dance representing his country of Fiji.

It wouldn’t be a trip without my girl bringing a little bit of drama.  One day she spent quite a bit of time pretending to get eaten by waves.  She insisted I get a picture of it, and we did indeed get the “money shot” after many tries.  I give you my daughter, future Academy Award Winner.

What would Hawaii be without some wayfarer shades, a hibiscus flower and the Hang Loose sign? {I spy me.}

Hannie B was not quite as wild about snorkeling.  I get it – it can be a little claustrophobic if you’re not used to it.  Even though she didn’t love snorkeling, she loved mugging for the camera in the gear.  Fish face, anyone?

My girl and her cousin Olivia swam out to Waimea Falls.  They stopped just short of getting in the actual waterfall, but it made for a great picture nevertheless.

I’m so glad I got to experience Hawaii with my daughter. Her beauty combined with the beauty of the island was intoxicating to me.

Up tomorrow:  Big C.

Hannie B, you rock the flower in hair Hawaiian styling. Looks to me like you had a blast, especially in the water.

What a wonderful way to spend Christmas!! Every year when we start talking about our Christmas plans, this is exactly what I picture doing...instead of the stressful hustle and bustle of getting 4 piles of perfect presents under the tree! It seems way more memorable and fun. I especially loved the photo of Hannah's hair adorned with flowers-so colorful and I, of course, love a cute redhead!
