This Never Happens . . .

When we said goodbye to Owlie’s pacifiers, Owlie decided to say goodbye to napping. I’m not going to lie, I was devastated.  I was also very surprised. Up until and even on the day we said goodbye to the pacis he’d been taking two to three hour naps EVERY day. Once the paci was gone, he refused to go to sleep during the day.

So a few weeks ago when I put the boy in a little time out on the couch, imagine my delight when the screaming and crying stopped and I came in to find this:

He was conked out on the couch with perfect afternoon light spilling in on his blond head.

Look at that hand. It’s not so little anymore.  It is big and busy all day long.

He slept on the couch for two hours! I quietly worked around him, stopping occasionally to take a picture of him so very still and beautiful.

He hasn’t taken a nap since this day.  I am so glad I stopped and watched him and soaked in this moment on this day.

Oh, and there is one benefit to no naps. He crashes between about 6:45 and 7:00 every night.

I understand your post-nap phase devastation. I enjoyed those quiet hours to get some things done around the house or even to take a nap myself.

I especially like how you took that time to smell the roses and marvel at your Owlie's perfectly boyish handsomeness.

Belly!

Love me some Owlie pictures... little angel sleeping. Yesterday's side mirror pic was awesome too. Love his sweet face and spunky attitude! Until he's all spunked out and takes advantage of a comfy sofa :)
