When A Princess Sleeps …

This is not a staged photo.

My daughter is a sleeping diva who wears a sequined mask every single night to shade her delicate eyes from the harsh light of morning. And today I just happened to catch it on camera.

Oh man, I love it!

I don’t know how it started.  I think her daddy gave her a sleeping mask from an airplane ride when she was little.  And then my mom made her a pink one to replace it. When that one became too small, we found her this one at Justice or some other teeny bopper store. And she owns it like no one else!

Every night I go in and kiss her forehead before I go to sleep. Every night I find her like this.  Mask on. Blankie – yes, BLANKIE – squished up under her head just like so.  Freckles poking out everywhere.

It makes me happy.  I sometimes wonder, will she still wear a diva eye mask when she’s married?  And even better – will she still love that BLANKIE.

It makes me giggle.  I love my Hannie B.

She can be a diva, she can also be so helpful, she is funny, spunky, cute, creative and I lOVE her. I love this picture because I think it reflects all the characteristics I just mentioned.

When I went to Finland last Summer I took a mask my sister's boyfriend gave me. I was told that there won't be dark night during my stay. My first night there I put it on, the next morning I woke up with no mask on my face... The following night I put it on again, but couldn't be more than 5 minutes with the mask on... For me it was more uncomfortable to sleep with something covering my eyes than with plenty of light...
Actually I think I was lucky that all the light 24h a day didn't bother me... Some of the other exchanges that were there too told me they had such a difficult time adjusting to it!
Hannie B. sure it's a diva! Love the photo!

I think "When a Princess Sleeps" is a great future title of a children's book. Write it and make millions. Perhaps you could follow up with a sequel called "When an Owlie Runs Naked".

She looks cute in her mask for sure! I have an eye mask I use sometimes, but only when I get a migraine. Oh, and only when my husband is home to watch the kids so I can go up to the bedroom and try to shut out all light wearing said eye mask. So... pretty much I don't get to use it often, because my migraines always seem to happen in the morning when he is already gone at work. Convenient for him, not so much for me! ;)

I'm always on the look out for princess masks for her. But I've never seen one as glamorous as the sequined one. She's a sleeping and waking beauty!

Love it! My brothers used to love sleeping masks, but not like that one. She looks like she could rule the world in that one.
