Summer Love …

It was the summer after Seventh Grade. I wore jelly bracelets, Izod t-shirts {collar up, naturally} and was rocking Forenza like nobody’s business. And then my fashion life was cemented in awesomeness forever the day my mom took me to the mall and bought me my first pair of Keds.

They were bright white with the trademark blue rectangle on the back of the heel.  I was in love. I washed and bleached them over and over to keep them white. I wore those shoes to death.  You did too, didn’t you?

A few weeks ago I went on the hunt for some new summer shoes. I wanted them to be fun, colorful and sassy. So you can bet I was happy when I came across these blue and red striped Keds.  They might possibly be the happiest shoes on the planet.  Every time I wear them I feel like I should be sitting on my porch eating a popsicle or running in the big fields behind my preteen home playing Sardines or Kick the Can.

Sound off.  Did you wear Keds as a teen?  Would you wear them again now?

{PS. My legs are white! But unlike when I was a teen, I’m totally okay with it now!}

I love my summer sandals...but a girl's gotta have some comfy heal protecting summer slip ons too. Yours are awesome!

This post makes me nostalgic for the 80s.

I wore the fake rip off Keds from Payless. I loved them. They look great on you!

I had the fake rip offs but I don't remember which store they came from. My favs were the ones I picked up that said "that's all folks!" on the sole.

Oh, I loved my keds! I felt so cool in them! I had a light blue pair that were awesome. I also remember a white pair I had with a navy stripe around the rubber of the whole shoe, they were slip ons and they were great. I thought those were Hannie B's shoes and legs, way to go you young looking thing! I might have to look for some keds for myself this summer.

Had me some white leather Keds with layered pink and mint green socks to match my pink and mint green striped shirt. Worn with pegged jeans, of course (or was it stirrup pants?) Classic.

As @Bells also commented, I first thought those were Hannie B's legs too!

I haven't ever had a pair of Keds... I'm not sure if we have them nowadays, but I doubt we had them before... We though had another brand that I think is similar and also is trendy nowadays.
