Jedi In Their Blood …

When I was a kid we spent hours upon hours playing Star Wars. At the time only the first two of the original trilogy existed, so I was either Princess Leia or C3-PO {because he sort of had a feminine figure}. My brother and his friends were Luke Skywalker or Han Solo or Lando and the only most ominous of us would choose the villainous role of Darth Vader.

It was good times.

It was déjà vu when the kids came upstairs with their cousin yesterday dressed like this:

The twin Padmes and their trusty Obiwan gallivanted around the yard, gathering fruit and nuts from the Endor forest and battling imaginary bad guys from all the Star Wars movies.  Their costumes are so much cooler than ours were.  It helps that we have guns from Star Tours and an arsenal of light sabers.  I’m pretty sure that we cut ours out of cardboard when I was a kid.

Seeing my kids like this made me happy.  They couldn’t help themselves really – they’ve got Jedi in their blood after all.

Do your kids still play pretend?

Dress ups still in regular use in our house. Yay!

Star Wars is as iconic (or is it iconographic?) as the Mona Lisa.

May the force be with you!

Love the photo! Lots of dressing up and pretend play still happening here. Mostly there are a lot of match ups between transformers and spider man with light sabers.

Yesterday Tessa asked me if Luke Skywalker was a Mormon.

It tickles me that Hannie B will is still willing to play dress up and pretend.

Love the pic.

I dress up and pretend I'm a really cool grandma, the reality is I'm just keeping my head above water and not one of my grands would call me cool.

dress up, gypsies, star wars, pretend, and now we have moved on to making movies and dances and all things great like that. I love the creativity but hate the messes. I put up with the mess because I love that they will play all together ranging 3 to 11 when they are all playing like this! I just blogged something like this! I love it! My niece and Nephew are coming for "cousin camp" and I can't wait to see what "movies" they all create together!

This photo is so great!
There is not much dressing up those days at my home... I'm the youngest one.
But sure I used to do it a lot! I think I had such a wild imagination!
