I’ve always loved a good detective story.
When I left for college, I snuck off with my mom’s copy of The Original Illustrated Sherlock Holmes by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle.
I’ve also always loved a good BBC adaptation of, well, anything. Those Brits just do it right.
Have you seen the BBC’s Sherlock? Oh man, it is so, so, so good. It’s Sherlock Holmes set in modern day London. The Hubby and I just finished watching the very short season two and I am already pining for more of Benedict Cumberbatch’s rude genius Sherlock and Martin Freeman’s earnestly friendly Dr. Watson. No offense to Robert Downey Jr. and Jude Law, but they’ve been replaced as THE Holmes and Watson forever.
Oh – and Moriarty . . . I can’t even talk about him without getting the creepy kind of goosebumps. Best villian EVER.
I highly recommend you check out Sherlock. You can view Season Two’s final episode on PBS.com today. But I don’t know why you’d do that without seeing Season One (all three epis available on Netflix) and the first two epis of Season Two (not sure where they’re available.
Brainy is the new sexy, people. Let me know if you’ve seen Sherlock!

Thanks for not posting any spoilers. This is a great series. Can't wait to watch all of Season 2 with my sweetie.
Maybe I'll have to try this one again, I couldn't get into the characters the first time. But I LOVE the ones with Robert Downey Jr and Jude Law.
Hands down, Cumberbatch and Freeman's sophisticated and intellectual Holmes wins over Downey Jr. and Law's fantasy/techno interpretation. The BBC's Sherlock is the most sophisticated, well written and acted Sherlock Holmes ever. It makes everything else on TV look like amateur hour productions.
Hubby and I LOVE this BBC version!
I've never seen it! I will give it a try this upcoming Summer.
Nice review of the series. I too like this adaptation.
Check out my review .
Cheers!
