The Closet …

Two weeks ago I mentioned that the Hubby and I share one dismally dysfunctional closet.  I spent one night taking all my aggression out on the wire shelf and supporting brackets to get the closet to this point so our contractor could come in and work his magic.

After a day of measuring and a day of installation, we had this:

Sections for two rows of hanging around the entire perimeter of the closet, shoe shelving for the Hubby and divided storage up top for sweatshirts, sweaters, etc.

Behind the door we included a small section of full length hanging space for my dresses and longer skirts.

We chose to go with MDF to lower our cost because we knew that once it was painted out it would look the same as solid wood.

Our contractor came back the next day and primed/painted all of the components he had installed.  This was a full day job because of those darn shoe cubbies.  I didn’t want to paint that four times {2 coats primer, 2 coats paint}, so I feel like it was money well spent to have him do it. He sure was grateful. {sarcasm}

Once he was done, I came in and painted all the walls and the ceiling.  Closet walls get nasty dirty.  Have you ever noticed?  Scuff marks galore.  It was so nice to have a fresh white coat of paint on everything.  Here’s how it looked at that point:

Honestly, I was pretty happy with the closet at this point and didn’t want to move any of the clothes back in. EVER.  It was so clean. So clutter free. So spacious! So full of natural light {see blinds on the floor?}!

But, the Hubby convinced me we should put our clothes away, so we did.  And I can’t wait to show you the final “after”.  But it will have to wait until Friday once I’ve gone to IKEA to get a few more hangers and a new laundry hamper. Followed by some meatballs and lignonberry sauce.

What?  A girl’s got her priorities.

What a great transformation, Samantha. I'm looking forwards to see the finnish "product".

hahahaha it also happens to me that when something is so clean and organized, I rather not use it before messing and disorganizing it... hahaha silly mind! It happens to me a lot with the clean and sparkling kitchen and bathroom.

P.S: Ooooh enjoy your meatballs with lingonberry! They are good!!!
