I’m not particularly a fan of receiving roses. Especially on Valentine’s day. It’s a bit cliché for me. But when I saw this rose on Pinterest, I was instantly smitten.
I’ve had this heart shaped grapevine wreath hanging around in the basement storage room for years waiting for inspiration to strike and help me take it from blah to BAM! This book page rose was just the ticket to a lovely Valentine decoration. A non-traditional wreath with a non-traditional rose.
The instructions in the tutorial on 100 Layer Cake {such a favorite eye candy wedding site for me} was very straight forward and simple. My two disclaimers: my rose is not nearly as pretty as the ones on the site, which is totally fine by me AND listen to them when they say to use the low temperature glue gun because I didn’t and there were many an Ow! Ow! Ow! and one really good burn sustained to a finger while making my rose.
Do you get flowers for Valentine’s Day from your sweetie? Whether you do or not, I’d send you a paper rose if only my fingers and my glue gun weren’t currently enemies!
On Monday I’ll share two non-candy Valentines the kids and I are making since our school has banned candy this year. And on Tuesday, the sweetest love letter ever, written by my grandmother. Happy Weekend!

I've been wanting to try this but you beat me to it. Looks perfect to me, great photos...photo bro would be proud of you as I am too :-)
Very pretty. I like getting flowers and will take some roses any time of year. But, like you, they're not my favorite flower.
