Don’t believe me? I submit this picture as evidence. That’s me in black {with the wig and orange tights}.
On Friday night my fantastic SIL Audrey and I had the most fun acting like complete hags for my mom and her sisters during their annual Sisters Reunion.
We snuck in through the basement door and surprised them all in their jammies as we came cackling up the stairs full volume, cauldrons in hand, ready to cast a spell and create a potion for them all to drink to make them younger and more clever. It has been a long time since I acted like a complete crazy in front of other people, but I had a blast!
Here’s the “recipe” Audrey and I came up with for the potion we made in front of the sisters bewildered eyes:
Sisters seven through the ages
Listen to our ancient pages
Spells we cast, ignore them NEVER
For they’ll make you young and clever
Eye of newt, into the pot
Stirred with goblin booger snot.
Round and round until it boils
Festers, smells and truly spoils.
Blood of bats scraped from their spines
Will help erase your aging lines
Worm preserved in vampire’s ice
Should make your witchy hair look nice
Black cat ground to finest dust
Does wonders for a sagging bust
From a ghost’s gall bladder drain
The juice to cure your addled brain
Lastly for the cauldron’s brew
Some Italian soda
What? It should taste good too.
Sisters seven through the ages
Drink now from our ancient pages
Potion made with pure delight
To tempt you on this witching night!
We had fun ingredients for each verse. Gummy eyeballs frozen in ice, honey for snot, cranberry juice for bat’s blood, gummy worms frozen in ice, purple sugar for black cat, a lime for a ghost’s gall bladder and blood orange Italian soda.
We mixed it in a cauldron over dry ice so it had that authentic brewing potion look. We served it up in goblets for all to drink. The biggest surprise – aside from us even being there - was that it was actually a very delicious concoction!
My Aunts love Halloween. I loved doing this for them. It was hilarious and and so fun to see them all. So, are you ready for Halloween yet? I feel more ready than ever!

I just saw the pics the Queen Vee posted on facebook and saw you and Audrey as witches.
Sure you had so much fun! I loved the spell! :D
You Nelson women are such a blast!
Wish I could have been there too. Excellent spell and you both look great in striped tights!
Hehehehe, my daughter and granddaughter are going as witch's this year. A relative said to me you are letting a 3 year old dress as a witch? Shouldn't she be something innocent. Well I did tell her she had to be a bad witch.....LOL! I am making the costume so she doesn't appear to look like some wicked witch that apparently people will think that she is being forced to be, this was her choice....
I love it!
You guys get academy awards for writing, acting, costuming and set design. You two are funny, gorgeous and hilarious witches. I think you should hire out or take your act on the road. YOU WERE PERFECT.
How in the world did you come up with that very clever rhyme? I marvel at your witchy greatness and want to be just like you for Halloween. =)
