During our reunion we couldn’t spend every waking moment at the beach {darn!}. With twelve kids in the house ranging in age from 13 to 2, we needed a plan to keep the little people occupied for at least part of that down time. Here’s how we did it:
My sister Melissa invented an amazing beach-themed board game. Seriously, she could do it for a living {if she didn’t already have a law degree}! The kids – and adults – loved it! It involved crab walking, hula dancing, umbrella drink making, suntan lotion applying and had the cutest tiny sand pail imaginable. Any game that finds both my brothers in a coconut bra is a winner in my book!
Another night my fabulous red headed sis-in-law Mindy provided an awesome concession stand for a kids movie night. Each child was given five dollars worth of play money before the movie. Then we had an intermission and each child who had behaved well got five more dollars. This tactic was genius and made for a very pleasant viewing experience! The kids thought it was so fun to have a movie AND all the bad-for-you treats that normally go with a theater experience. In case you’re interested, the movie of choice: Diary of a Wimpy Kid 2.
I helmed up a night of Minute To Win It games. I used my husband’s reunion last year as reference and just shortened everything a little bit for smaller attention spans. It was a riot! The best part of the night was seeing my brother-in-law Thomas get an Oreo from his forehead to his mouth using only his facial muscles A MERE EIGHT SECONDS!
With all these activities, we had no trouble keeping twelve kids happy and busy at the beach house. What do you do in down time at reunions?

Loved every single thing that we did. The activity that totally suprised me was the artist studio. Markers, a ream of paper and a big table made for some amazing pictures and happy contented kiddos.
I'm still amazed with my man's formerly hidden cookie eating talents.
I'm still chuckling when I think of those Hula dancers.
My kids are still talking about the candy at the concession stand.

Really, Rob and Lori wouldn't do those games? I think they would. It's all about letting the kids see their parents acting like complete idiots and laughing at themselves!
We never do that at my family reunions... but I think we should! This must be so so much fun! Your family really know how to have fun!c
