Afterschool, Some Days . . .

IMG_8970

On days when I feel like being the kind of mom that has kids falling at her feet in admiration, I make smoothies for after school snack.

It isn’t rocket science. It’s vanilla soy milk, occasionally yogurt, frozen berries {Costco} and a scoop of protein powder. When the blender turns on little people congregate around me, drool escaping their tiny lips. Why couldn’t they do that when I cook broccoli?

Ollie is possibly the biggest fan followed closely behind by Big C. RedDog likes them too, but mostly because he wants a purple mustache.

I’d make smoothies every day if it wasn’t such a mess to clean up and I didn’t own the saddest blender in history. Besides, I don’t want to be the coolest mom every day – what would that do to my title of Meanest Mom on the Planet?

I like making smoothies and my kids love inhaling them. =)

But I don't do it often because my blender doesn't really do the blending thing well.

I really want a blendtec. (Have you seen the Will it Blend videos on youtube?) But do you know how much those bad boys cost? SPENDY!

Of course, you can not do it everyday if you want to keep your title! LOL.

best purchase ever...don't laugh.... the magic bullet! As seen on tv and now in Wal-Mart. It really is all it promised to be and the smoothie and clean up is MAYBE 10 mins TOP! (and I am making 4 or more at a time!) My brother gave it to me for my birthday and I laughed at him because I thought it was a joke. BEST JOKE EVER! :) I think the new one has a BIGGER blender attachment.... a girl can dream! :)

I make smoothies too. They are my secret way of getting my picky eaters to eat their fruit and not complain about it. I love hiding other healthy stuff in there too, like ground flaxseed (an amazing source of EFAs!). I have a great Cuisanart blender, but I agree, such a pain to clean it! some day I want to up the health nut factor and learn my sister's green drink recipe, comprised of all green veggies. she swears by it!
