Whilst Traveling The World . . .

IMG_7651

Our little vacation is over.  It was so relaxing that my body and brain are in shock after getting everyone off to school this morning.

While we were gone it rained.  A lot.  And it got cold.  We had to pull out the down comforter last night.  Finding Ollie’s diapered body this morning was like unearthing a treasure buried deep since the Queen had dressed him in three layers of pajamas to stay warm.  The grin he gave me when I first went in his room this morning is what I like to refer to as payment for mommy services rendered.  It is like pure gold.

Our grass in the front yard is so long that lawn toys are hidden from view. I think I might have to mow it.  I also think Big C is growing faster than the grass. He seems an inch taller, his voice  an octave deeper since we saw him five days ago.

RedDog swore he wasn’t mean to Ollie while we were away.  Okay, well, maybe a little bit, but only because he cries whenever he tries to kiss him.  My dad, upon shuttling us from airport to home kept talking about how the pecking order is alive and well in our house.  What on Earth is he talking about? (wink, wink)

Hannie B. is surrounded by a swirling green aura as her little world gets deeper and deeper intertwined with that of a land called Oz.  The next few weeks will be frenzied as the play nears at the end of the month!

I’ve come home to laundry and messes and carpools and no food in the fridge.  It is my wonderful everyday life and I love it. While our vacation was a little paradise, it reconfirmed to me how important the work is that I do everyday.

I am glad to be back.

Ps.  I am being interviewed today by the local paper for an article on mommy bloggers!

PPs. Thank you Matt and Mindy, for an amazing five days of fun!  We love you {and know you don’t read this blog}.

Isn't it amazing how a few days away gives you fresh eyes to see your kids and your life with greater awe and appreciation?!

An interview?!?! Are you ready for your fifteen minutes?

Laundry yes, but I left the house clean. Dad is correct, the pecking order is alive and well between Owlie and Red Dog, and the love is too.

You may have left it clean, but with our unpacking and the morning magic my children can work, it is a mess already. :)
