Spooks & Sparkles: A Halloween Giveaway . . .

I love Halloween.  And I love people who read this silly-little-blog-about-nothing.  So it only makes  sense that I should give the people I love some fantastic things to help celebrate this spookiest of all holidays, right?

My most favorite costume was a dinosaur costume I made for my daughter ( who was 6 at the time) out of tan duct tape. It turned out great and won her school's award for most creative! Yeah!
Btw, I found your blog through Rose. :)

I get giddy this time of year and not just because my birthday is on Halloween. I LOVE seeing all the costumes the trick or treaters wear to the door.

My favorite has to be my husbands costume last year, Ultraman. He made it himself with flashing chest light and all. Everywhere we went kids were gawking at him with their mouths dropped open. Fun night!

Nothing ever could surpass my love for the costume I wore when I was 7years-old. I was a fairy. One year earlier, my mother had produced a silly clown costume for me. Circumstances did not allow for an exception. My family had just moved into a somewhat completed home and, days later, my very first day in my new school was also the day of the Halloween all-school parade and classroom parties. I was mortified.

I love Halloween!! My favorite costume...that's a toughie. Probably the one I did for 2 of my kids as babies. I made myself a big spider web shirt using electrical tape and made them my baby spider with eight legs and all. Both Mia and Luke wore this costume as little babes.

You know I LOVE Halloween...that is to be expected when you find your engagement ring in a pumpkin after all! So...my most memorable Halloween costumes are the clown costumes that Linda made for Phil and I to wear on our "engagement scavenger hunt!" Clowns are usually creepy, but these just bring back memories of the best decision I ever made! SO FUN TO SEE YOU LAST WEEK!

My favorite costume was a fairy dress my Mom made for me. We were extremely poor and all three of us girls wanted to be fairies for Halloween. So my Mom took apart her wedding dress and made three of the most beautiful white fairy costumes you've ever seen. *Sigh*

My least favorite costume was a pig costume. What kid wants to be dressed up like a pig, especially one who is really a Queen. I'm coveting that necklace never-the-less please take my name off the giveaway being as you know, I've already given that stuff away. I'm excited for the lucky winner though because it's a blood curdling good haul of spooky loot.

A few years ago my daughter insisted we both be batgirl. It was so fun. She was thrilled. And wore her mask for months afterwards.

My most favorite costume ever was one from when I was young, I think 6 years old. I don't know...anyway...
My mom made me a Glenda the Good Witch costume. It was poofy and sparkly with a huge crown and a staff. I LOVED it! Still do! Always will!
I only wish I was as talented as my mom so I could make one for my daughter.

Oh, I can't decide!! I love 2 of the costumes I made for my son on different years. His obsession with Shrek one year led me to make a "Gingy" costume & then another year I made "Stomper" the Oakland A's mascot. I ran out of ideas & time this year and for the first time - bought both my kids costumes. But my daughter still wants me to jazz it up to make it "special"!!!

I once transformed my oldest in Naruto with my sewing skills. It was way cool. Yeah, I'll take that Halloween stuff off your hand.

My favorite costume was "Bubble Gum Under a Chair"
I wore a stuffed pink sweatshirt and sweat pants, and strapped a little tiny wooden chair to my head, and of course filled my mouth with bubblegum, chewing and blowing bubbles.

It is so hard to pick a favorite costume! I see a lot of really creative ones, but there is definitely something to be said for making your own. I never got to be Dorothy from the Wizard of Oz as a little girl, so last year I decided to sew my own costume (for the first time ever!), and made my own Dorothy costume. It was so much fun. I felt like I was fulfilling childhood wishes!

I dressed up as a giant ebi sushi roll a few halloweens back, with a giant handmade shrimp on my back and a black obi sash for the seaweed part.

I figured being as I wasn't in the drawing for the giveaway and because I'm the Queen that I could post about my least favorite costume. Other than the Pig costume I don't remember any costumes from my youth and you know what a lousy job I did of costuming my own kiddos.

My two favorite costumes are from when I was growing up. One year my mom transformed me into Wonder girl, I loved Wonder Woman but my mom didn't want me wearing that outfit... so she made an awesome crown and cape for me. I was flyin high and she was the hero. The next year I wanted to be a wind-up doll. My dad made a wooden wind up key that stuck out the back of my Shirley Temple-esque dress. I had a blond wig with pig tails and I thought I was the cutest thing ever, walking around all night with stiff wind up movements. Thanks Mom and Dad for making some great memories with me!

I don't have many memories from childhood stuff but my favorite costume as an adult was a raggedy ann costume. I loved my raggedy ann doll i had growing up, until my jerky brother thought it would be funny to destroy it. So it was fun to dress up as raggedy ann, plus it was one of the only modest costumes i could find at party city :)

I think my favorite costume would have to be when my younger daughter was Minnie Mouse for her second Halloween. She was absolutely precious in that costume! So many sweet memories.

Thanks for the great giveaway!!! Hope I win!

My favorite costume? Well, my favorite costume memory was when my oldest Jacob (who is now a freshman in college) was in 6th grade. He couldn't decide on a costume for the Halloween parade and due to our crazy schedule at the time, his inability to make a decision took us to K-Mart at 6a on Halloween morning. You can only imagine the costume aisles--a mess to say the least. We started digging through and finally decided on something we pieced together; although looking back, I'm sure at one point it was a complete costume and the pieces got separated. Long black velvety looking coat with colorful trim on the ends of the sleeves and going around the collar and down the front. A matching wide-brimmed hat complete with trim. And glasses. Oh, the glasses... They were awesome--big gold frames with dollar signs over each eye. I thought he looked like a big Hollywood executive--you know, someone who lines up recording deals or something along those lines. And he was convinced. Fast forward to the afternoon Halloween parade. I was teaching preschool at the time and wasn't able to be there, but my husband Mike went and couldn't wait to get home to tell me all about it. Apparently our bishop had a visual of Jacob before he came around the corner to where Mike was sitting. The bishop started making comments about Jacob's costume in a teasing way, telling Mike he was surprised that his wife would let her child wear something like that. Then Mike got a visual--there was his son parading around the school with the biggest grin on his face (in addition to the cool gold dollar sign glasses) dressed like...a pimp! I'm not sure who in our ward took a picture and gave it to me as a keepsake. I do know I was on the the phone that night with my bishop, confessing that I really didn't know!

I bought a puppy dog costume on clearance at gymboree for my baby boy who was 10 months old. Think about it, what do babies do at 10 months--crawl. It was adorable to watch, the cute little puppy crawling around trying to grab candy out of the candy bowl. The best part about it was that a few years later I had another little boy who was 9 months old on Halloween. So he was a puppy too that year and he crawled around in the puppy costume with his tongue hanging out!! :) ADORABLE! So the puppy costume was my favorite for more reasons than one.

My favorite Halloween costume was a newborn I saw dressed as a chili pepper. It was a little red bunting bag with a stemmy hat and as the baby wiggled and kicked it looked so adorable I have never forgotten it.

The only costume I vividly remember (outside of picure reminders) is dressing like a baby (clothe diaper and all) when I was in the 4th grade. I wouldn't call it my favorite though...just memorable. Last year was the first time my son participated in trick-or-treating,and I loved his costume! Our neighbor lent it to us. He was a skunk! He even had a little heart on the bum that said Little Stinker. So cute, so appropriate. And warm for our cold IA October.

My favorite costume was a costume my mom made for me because we didn't have a lot of money and so she made me as a human valentine. We used poster board and I got some valentine boxers. That was my costume. You know the favorite things in life are the ones that are homemade not store bought.

My mom made us a hamburger, hot dog and french fry costume. Cute

This is my favorite time of year to decorate. I love Halloween! My first ward dance was a costume party when I was twelve. We borrowed this awesome black cloak lined in red. My mom painted my face white with blood dripping from my mouth. We back combed my hair. I looked great! When I got to the dance all the other girls had "pretty" costumes. I felt silly, but I sure looked great!

Finally commenting - although I check everyday. I, too, am Halloween obsessed.

My favorite costume ever was a Hershey's kiss outfit made by my dear mother. I think she still has it - which means that little shimmery ball of fabric has seen more countries than the average American. And yes, I'd wear it this year if there any hope of it fitting.

My sister, Jillian, had her son dress up like the old man from "Up" the Disney movie. I loved that he had bushy white eyebrows and black-framed glasses. He toted around a bunch of helium balloons and was a hit!

The only Halloween I really remember was when I was about 8 or so. I REALLY wanted to be a cheerleader because I idolized the cheerleaders at my brother's football games. But alas, I didn't put enough forethought and preparation into obtaining a great costume, so it ended up being a big disappointment. Just some skirt and a random sweater and a mismatched popom. What a drag!

would you look at all this blog love? You really are fame-ish! My favorite costume was when we all went as fast food characters. I was pregnant, but hid it in my husband's suit as I went as Jack in the Box. :)

Here in Spain we don't have Halloween, but we have Carnival in February. Is during this time of the year when most of the people here in Spain dress up.
My most favourite costume is one a friend of mine and I did for ourselfs long time ago (we probably were 15 or so). We dress up as punks. The best thing of it is that we didn't spend any money (we took old clothes) and that while preparing them we had a really good time. We also colored our hair in differents colors. It's still now that we remember everything and laught lots!
I hope I win and could decorate my room/flat with your decoration!

My favorite costume as a child is a tie between the cavegirl cosutme my mom made me with a real chicken bone in my hair --from a chicken we ate! My brothers were both caveboys will animal print baseball caps and cavemen wooden bats.....and the Space Alien costumes my mom made from yellow and green fabric --she made puffy leg and arm covering which could be tied on with ribbons....of course my brothers were also aliens. My mom rocked Halloween! Putting great effort into making it memorable. We have lots and lots of funny costume stories to tell. I am sure that is why it is one of my most favorite holidays! Thanks mom!!
