Remember That Thing Called A Giveaway?

So I totally spaced the May giveaway.  The only thing I can say is that it’s been a busy month and a half.  I had big plans too, since May marked the three year anniversary of my starting to write this silly little blog about nothing.  Alas, May is gone and June is headed in the same direction.  But, happy news! I have a little something I’d like to send one lucky reader’s way just in time for that oh-so-patriotic month of July to roll around.

Yesterday was Flag Day.  The children and I marched around the kitchen waving flags and singing “You’re A Grand Ol’ Flag” at the top of our lungs.  Meanwhile, Ollie sat on the floor looking up at us in utter amazement and with rapt attention.

And of course, I had to put out my little flags on the mailbox:

Isn’t that a cute little number?  It was a gift to me from the Queen.  We love to put our flags out for all the patriotic holidays, including Independence Day, Memorial Day, Veterans Day and of course, Flag Day.

I love how the happy little flags are lined up greeting cars, walkers and even the post man as they pass our way.

And, lucky readers, I just happen to have another three flag holder – brand new with three red ball topped flags – just waiting to come find a home with you for the holidays.

So, if your mailbox needs a little dressing up this summer, leave me a comment telling me something you do to celebrate the country you love {and to my foreign readers – I’d be more than happy to send you the flag holder minus the American flags if you’d like to wave your country’s banners}.

The giveaway will end this Friday at 5 pm EST.  Don’t forget to leave a way for me to contact you so I can send some starred and stripey goodness your way.

Here in Topeka, they celebrate the 4th like NO OTHER place I've lived. There are fireworks stands on every corner and NOTHING is illegal. I swear our neighbors save up all year to blow it all on fireworks on the 4th. It makes for an INCREDIBLE night of fireworks. Every direction you look there are huge fantastic fireworks blazing and you can watch from your front or backyard. I love it and look forward to it every year, even when I have a three day old baby, like I did last year. :) And our neighborhood has TONS of kids in it and we have a neighborhood 4th of July parade where all the kids (dressed in red, white and blue) decorate their bikes, wagons, big wheels, etc. with streamers, balloons and anything else they can find and parade around the neighborhood while their parents sweat to death. It's quite the fun, patriotic event.

One silly little family tradition that my family always did and I have kept up with my kiddos is making homemade ice cream every 4th of July. I can't wait.

I hope I win the darling flags. :)

That is an awesome looking mailbox.
I LOVE the flags!
I love to take the family to home town parades and wave flags and cheer for each and every float that passes by.
A tradition that we do each and every Washington's Birthday (a patriotic day, right?) is starting the day with his favorite breakfast: hoecakes "swimming in butter and honey."
I hope I win the flags and holder, but if I don't will you tell us where you got it?

This is adorable! I have never seen a three flag holder. :) We typically try to eat red, white and blue foods to celebrate the USA!
Thanks :)

Oh my, how cute!!! Love the flag holder!

Our patriotic tradition is to gather at my parents' lake house and celebrate the old fashioned way - picnics on red checkered blankets, drinking lemonade out of mason jars, eating homemade ice cream and homemade s'mores, and capping off the day with a fireworks display!

I'd love to win the little flags - thanks for a fun giveaway!

Hi!
I also want to win this three flag holder, and I would not mind if there is at least one of these small-oh so beatiful-American flags, although I'm from Spain.
I'm from Catalonia, to be more accurate. And I feel much more Catalan than anything in the world! So when one of our National day comes... the Catalans take all our flags and put it on the balcony or somewhere to be seen (here we don't have that much tradition like in the USA to have the flag all year long beside the main entrance). We only take the flag out twice a year or so...
Yesterday I was talking with some friends and I was telling them that I would love that we have the same tradition as you... but they said it would be weir... because people here is not used to it. So with this holder I will start that change!

Love our country! Something we celebrate is to make sure we see fireworks on July 4th. It's supposed to be that way! Also, I like to find a place that coreographs patriotic music to the fireworks. That's awesome!

Cute flag holder, wish I had a mailbox. The best place in the world to be on the 4th of July is Idaho Falls. What you say? When is Idaho ever good? Only during the month of July, so they do it up well. Great parade, running and bike races for the whole fam, BBQ's with family, and great fireworks provided by the Great Frank (don't ask, just enjoy!) It is all family friendly and free! We even have good weather most years! Come visit some time!

the best thing I can do to celebrate Our Nation... is to be in another country. I love being out in the world. There is so much to see and hear and love and learn from, and while I appreciate what other nations and cultures have that we don't, I am never so grateful for our freedoms as when I am away, not the smallest of which is the equality afforded to women. My most powerful fourth-of-Julys have been celebrated abroad and I am brought to tears as I recognize the "promised land" that I am blessed to call home.

We are so, so lucky.

God Bless America...

(oh and hopefully my luck extends to three awesome flags and a flag holder! :)

I can just imagine you guys tromping around the kitchen singing loudly and little Ollie big eyes getting bigger by the moment.

And sad to say but I don't have a mailbox.

I come from a military family and I married a military man. I have always tried to tell my kids how great this country is. I'm not sure I have a great tradition besides fireworks :).
