Thoughts On Gifting . . . (and a winner + a blog recommendation)

I'd be a liar if I didn't admit that I have a {un}healthy little obsession with giving gifts. I'm sure it has something to do with "The Pleaser" in me. That, and it just makes me feel so happy! I feel happy when I'm scouring the stores, my brain in gear thinking, my wallet itching to open {sorry Hubby} my heart totally into doing something for someone else. I feel happy when I'm packaging something up in a cute or clever way, imagining a reaction on the recieving end. And I feel really, really happy when a gift is opened and a genuine smile creeps across the face of the beneficiary who in that moment feels special, loved, and appreciated.

Lucky for me then that this is the year of the baby!  I have so many friends having babies I honestly can't count them all.  It's somewhere near twenty.  So when I'm out and about, I've got my baby gift eyes on.  Today three babies are getting gifts.  Two girls, one boy - maybe a future friend for Oliver?  Here they are, wrapped up, though simply, and ready to bring cheer to new mommies and warmth to new little ones.

Since I'm in the mood to give, here's a little gift for you, dear readers of this silly-little-blog-about-nothing: a link to another of my favorite blogs, Giver's Log.  AmberLee is a gift giving {and finding} genius.  I love to scour her posts for clever packaging ideas.  I love to scour her posts for original gift ideas.  I love to scour her posts for easy tutorials.  Heck, I think I'd scour her tub for an ounce of her creativity! Wait - I don't have to do that, because she's provided all out access to her creativity through this blog.  Two of my favorite posts are here and here. Go check it out!  But promise me that if you do, you'll then act on what you see by giving a gift to someone else {may I suggest donating to the RedCross to help our fellow humans in Haiti?}

And a last little gift to one lucky reader . . . Congratulations to EmilyatNotionsonNesting!

You are a truly gifted gift giver. Don't doubt your gift giving super powers!

The best part of giving is the great joy, love and sometimes compassion that go into the act of giving. These are what make a gift special.

Isn't it great when you find that perfect gift for someone? I think a lot of my "extra" money goes in that direction every year.

I LOVE Giver's Log. We did the Hot Chocolate on a Stick for all our neighbor/friend gifts this year.

Those are the cutest tags. I love to be creative with the gift giving too. Ribbons and stickers are my favorite thing to use now.

The gifts and tags are so cute! Do you have lots of ribbon on hand to choose from? If so, how do you store it? I was at Wal-mart today and I saw some glass jars like yours, there were 1 gal jars for $6.97 and they had some 2 gal jars for 12.97. Do you know if yours are 1 or 2 gal? You always give me great ideas! Thank you!

Jbells- All my extra ribbon is stored in 1 gallon jars in my "craft closet". I save every scrap of ribbon I ever get on a present and reuse it all. I've found a flatiron is really handy for ironing wrinkled ribbon. The jars on my kitchen counter are the two gallon jars from Walmart. :)
