Love all the pictures. Your excursion to the beach sounds like a wonderful way to spend Memorial Day.
I just remembered that we were pregnant at the same time. Alec and Soren were even born the same month. I still remember standing in your kitchen with you and your mom and you told me you were four months pregnant with Soren. That doesn't feel like it was five years ago does it?
Yeah - five years has flown by! I mark our time here in Virginia by how old RedDog is . . . he was born just a month after we moved here. I really thought there would be another one by now. Here's to our almost 5 year olds!
By Royal command we give our seal of approval for the 2008 Beach Castle Competition. Having built a few royal beach residences in my time I consider myself an expert on such royal edifices. I proclaim both teams first place winners and confer upon you all rights, honors and privileges that come with this award.
Team Carlson clearly understands the influence of Moorish design on sandcastle building, while Team Knoll has used ancient American Aztec and Mayan influences as their muse. It's hard to come up a looser when you're on the beach with water, sun, happy kids, a zillion yards of sand and the joy of just acting like a big kid.

The Knoll's pyramid was pretty cool, but you just can't compete with inlaid seashell accents, can you? Nice work!
Super Fun! I don't know how the passer by could have been able to choose between the castles! They are both uber cool!
