I "Heart" Traditions . . .

The Hubby and I are having our 12th anniversary this Sunday. Twelve years! Unbelieveable how fast that has gone by. I'd be a big fat liar if I didn't say that those twelve years have really been the best ever in my life.

One thing I have pushed for in the past couple of years is a conscious effort on our part to create lasting traditions for our children. I'm a firm believer in traditions, even though I can't say that there are an amazing amount from my growing up that have caused me to feel this way. I just think that kiddoes will feel more in touch with and endeared to their family if they have traditions they can count on and love. My best friend Scharman is a great example to me of creating wonderful traditions for her family. I want to do better at this.

Yesterday we started a new tradition at our house. We had our first ever Last Day Of School Ice Cream Blowout! It was a blast! The kids invited friends from the neighborhood to come over right after school and have a huge sundae bar and play games. I kept everything outside (aside from the assembly line for sundaes). It was a hot day and the water games, trampoline and hammock were all huge hits. I was really nervous about having sixteen kids and 5 moms here - but it was so much fun, everyone got along, no one got hurt, and the time flew by! We spent two hours outside and my kids actually thanked me for such a great party. Here's a look at the party.
