The Man Child …

chrisprofile

I had to be stealth to capture this shot from inside a house where he couldn’t see me. There is a pane of glass between us and he was busy watching his uncle fly a GoPro helicopter camera, so I got lucky.

He is insistent that I not take pictures of him. It’s a shame because I think he’s a great looking kid and I want to remember him when he’s gone in a few years.

I can’t handle that last sentence I just wrote.

Big C will be a Junior this year. You remember your Junior year, right? It’s “the one that counts”. It’s the one colleges look at. It’s the one with Chemistry. It is the longest, toughest and most stressful year of high school.

And then it’s over and he’s a Senior.

GULP.

This being a parent thing is heart wrenching. I am not prepared. At all.

That first one leaving your care is always the hardest.

You're preparing them to fly on their own and so eventually you have to let them do it.

Just think though, you've got Owlet for 13 more years. In fact you'll probably be a grandma by the time Owlet flies away.

Times and Seasons, enjoy them all.

Queen V, that's putting things into perspective :) The idea of grandmotherhood (or rather her kids with their own kids) might be more terrifying to Samantha than Big C flying the coop!
Ms Samantha, you're doing an amazing job raising your kids-- what pride you'll find when they put all that great rearing into practice on their own!

I think Queen Vee and Michelle said it all perfectly! Just think where might be if not for your unconditional love and undying support. Follow your Mother's example of how to transition - she's done well, very well.

Keep taking those stealth pictures. He's a handsome fella and I'm glad you're capturing moments and cherishing each one.

Take all the pictures you can! Time is funny- sometimes the days seem so long, but the years are so short. You are doing a great job with your kids.
