Road Trip Insanity: Day One

IMG_2784

Well, we did it! We loaded up all four kids and hit the road. I’m hoping to throw a micro-post together each day with pictures from our adventure across America.

Yesterday the kids were drooling over an entire trailer of Mini Coopers. We all picked one and imagined what it would be like to drive them in the subway system ala The Italian Job.

Ollie was a little freaked out by being in tunnel. I had to tell the kids about the tunnel we used to drive through when we went to Italy in the summer. It was eight miles long!

New to this trip: Big C in the front seat next to the Hubby. It’s a good arrangement that has already proven to cut the amount of bickering in half. I loved getting this shot of him getting a shot of a rainbow. Meanwhile, I’m in the middle with Ollie, doling out treats, putting movies in the DVD player and controlling the flow of eletronics.

Here are my three little munchkins just a few minutes ago. I love my sleeping babies. This is going to be a really great trip.

All looks great to me so I'm just wishing you continue SAFE travels.

That tunnel that you thought was 8 miles long was actually longer and a place you DON't want to be if there is an accident. I confess the Gotthard Tunnel freaked me out.

The St. Gotthard Tunnel in Switzerland runs from Göschenen in the Canton of Uri at its northern portal, to Airolo in Ticino to the south, and is just under 16.4 kilometres (10.2 mi) in length below the St. Gotthard Pass. It is the third-longest road tunnel in the world.

I hope you have a great trip! I loved the list of your duties from the middle - easier isn't it from that position than the front?! Are you audio booking or more of a music jam fam? "Controlling the flow of electronics" part - boy is that familiar!

Is Big C going to drive at some point? He already has his license isn't it?

Wow! I didn't know about St. Gotthard tunnel! That's so very long... Sounds crazy! But sounds even crazier to me a underwater tunnel... hahah
