In Case You Didn’t Notice …

dragonflybooks

This Dragonfly got a new camera. Turning 40 is awesome when a fancy schmancy DSLR is wrapped with a bow and waiting for you!

Edward (my sweet old camera) is sitting on the shelf for kids to use in a pinch or for a project.

My new camera – I think we’ll call him Benedict (as in Sherlock Holmes) – is a Canon Rebel T3i. I’m learning and failing and learning more and trying and taking lots of lots of pictures.

You may have noticed more of that lovely ‘blur’ in some of my pictures. A very nice lens is making that possible. My older brother is giving me advice and tutoring. So it’s a double bonus, really – better pictures AND time with my brother. Nice!

Here’s hoping you have a fantastic weekend!

PS. So many kind words shared yesterday through comments and email have really helped me and my daughter to know we are not alone in this struggle. Thank you so very much.

As in Benedict Arnold, America's most notorious traitor?

This would be appropriate, perhaps because you betrayed Edward for a more expensive friend?

Benedict Cumberbatch? or Benedict from Much Ado about Nothing?

Either way "Benny" is a welcom addition to the blog! Your pictures have been amazing (Hannie B's eyes yesterday - WOW!)

I often wish I could blur out the background stuff and focus only on the subject close at hand. But the forest keeps budding in on the trees.

I know it's supposed to be "butting," but "budding" has a spring ring to it that makes me happy.

And here I thought you'd name that new camera Sherlock.

You're taking some great pics with it, nice to have a brother instructor.

Your photos are awesome and it's great that your brother is giving you some advice. And even better that this means you two get to spend more time together! :)
I got a new camera for Christmas, my first ever reflex camera and I don't know how to use it yet... It's a trial and error thing in my case...

Benedict reminded me of the Pope, well maybe better to say ex-Pope.

What lens did you get? I got a 24-70 2.8 lens almost 2 years ago and have LOVED it. Alas, it got dropped at the school Christmas play and is out of commission for awhile till I can get it repaired. I really, really miss it!
