Summer Love …

Is there anything that says Summer more than a cool slice of watermelon? This entire platter of melon was devoured last night by our family and a family with five boys. Gone. Every. Last. Slice.

I am a sucker for a little kid’s face buried in a slice of watermelon.  When ever Owlie asks for melon, I can’t bear to say no! The chance to see his freckles poking out behind a pink and green wedge, juice running down his chin – it’s just too good to pass up.

The champion melon eater at our house is Big C.  He ate six slices last night! I wonder if he felt sloshy afterwards. That kid would sit down with half a melon and just scoop it out with a spoon if I’d led him.

Our summer continues to be too busy to believe.  We haven’t even sat down yet to write out our Summer list. And now June is gone. We are behind for sure.  July is going to fly by unbelievably fast.  Big C. will be gone for three weeks of it! Personally, I’m counting on August to be the Summer month of my dreams.

How about you? Does your summer seem crazier than normal? Do you need to sit down with a slice of melon and just chill?

Mmmmmm watermelon! But I must say that my fav fruit for Summer is melon (not watermelon) --> this type of melon: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Piel_de_Sapo

Whenever I don't get to eat enough melon, I crave it so much!
Though one of the reasons I love Summer is for the great variety of delicious fruit! Cherries, peaches, watermelon...

Aiketa,
That melon looks delish! And somewhat similar in color to our Honeydew melon. I love all the melons and could eat them with reckless abandon in summer!

Our summer is not going as planned. The Army Man isn't allowed to take any vacation until mid September. So any travel plans we had are now up in smoke. The kids and I could go without him, but I'm sick of vacationing without the Army Man.
