{Self portrait. Beach at sunset on last night in St. John}
I’m back from paradise. It was awesome.
Our vacation was unreal. So beautiful that multiple locations and experiences took my breath away EVERY. SINGLE DAY. So calm that moments of quiet relaxation and contemplation were the norm instead of the impossible like in my normal life. So enjoyable that I laughed so hard I cried and my sides and face ached from smiling too much. So wonderful because I got to be with my best friend 24 hours a day and experience a new place with him. He is awesome.
I could say more, but it wouldn’t do it justice and it would make you resent me. If you ever get the chance, I very HIGHLY recommend St. John, U.S. Virgin Islands.
Our trip would not have been possible without my mom, who watched our four children for an entire week and survived. Queen, you rock. Even if you spoiled my kids with delicious breakfasts and now they don’t want to eat cold cereal. I know you did a great job because Owlie keeps calling me Grandma or telling me he needs to talk to you on the phone “right now”.
Now it’s back to reality. Gladly, reality means my kids. I missed them so much it hurt. I was so thankful to be able to talk to them on the phone and see pictures of them in text messages. I love being a mom and doing my mom job. My kids are awesome to me.
Good thing there’s so much awesomeness going on here, or my first day back might have done me in for good. More on that tomorrow . . . you’ll want to be here. It ranks a perfect TEN on the disgusting scale.

St. Johns is definitely on our list after the tantalizing pictures.
So glad it took your breath away every day.
I don't care what those kiddos told you but I treated them awesomly. (most of the time) Delighted that you and your bro + spouses + friends had such a great experience.
Queenie, there have only been raving, positive reviews. You are a great caregiver.
I'm so pleased you had the perfect get-away! St. John's is definately on our short list....thanks for sharing little glimpses of the beauty.
P.S. I think the Queen rocks as well and wonder if she'll give my mom a call to tell her to gift us with a week of childcare! Really. That is an awesome gift.
After seeing your pictures here and in facebook... sure I would like to go there too. Another destination on my list!
I am so happy to know that you had such a great vacation.
I love U.S. virgin islands. I really do. It is the only place in the world where i can be myself, and be happy about it.... everywhere else I have to change parts of myself and I love the people! America remains an attractive and popular country for those looking for a fresh start or new career opportunities. I think this country is an example of hardworking and intelligent people. I love the way streets and buildings are designed. I love the respect toward private property.
