It’s Gratitude Week at our house. As much as I’d love for November to be Gratitude Month at our house, it’s been way too busy, so a mere week of focused gratitude is what we can handle. Just keeping it real, people.
Mostly, I’ve been concentrating on this thought by Elder Robert D. Hales:
“In some quiet way, the expression and feelings of gratitude have a wonderful cleansing or healing nature. Gratitude brings warmth to the giver and the receiver alike.”
“Gratitude, expressed to our Heavenly Father in prayer for what we have, brings a calming peace, a peace which allows us to not canker our souls for what we don’t have. Gratitude brings a peace that helps us overcome the pain of adversity and failure. Gratitude on a daily basis means we express appreciation for what we have now without qualification for what we had in the past or desire in the future.”
Today I am thinking solely about the many blessings that ARE mine, instead of those things I wish were mine but aren’t.
As random as this may seem, I am blessed to have a great pediatrician. I have two boys who are sick today and will be paying her a visit. How fortunate I am to be able to drive five minutes down the road to see a doctor who can help the hacking coughs to stop so we can all get sleep again.
And even though sick kids make me sad, I am grateful when I get to have them home even for a little extra time in the morning. I am a lucky momma. Now I’m off to juice my boys up with some fresh oranges before our doctor visit! Happy Monday!

Orange smile made me smile. That Owlet doesn't look sick, just very cute.
Sick kids are often snuggly kids. That's something to be grateful for!
Hope they feel better soon. Love that second picture of Owlie!!!
He is the cutest!
Thanks for sharing the quote, it brought me comfort and a much needed fresh pair of eyes.
P.S. I've finally started blogging again.
