A Girls’ Night Out . . .

IMG_0312

Last night I took Hannie B. to the Kennedy Center to see the musical WICKED.  This is my second time seeing it, so it was very fun to enjoy watching my girl’s reaction to the spectacle that is a Broadway show.

Our seats were unbelievable. The cast, even more so.  The girl who played the green witch, Elphaba - Dee Roscioli - had just finished starring in Wicked on Broadway, after shutting down the Chicago run, after starring in San Francisco.  She holds the honor of starring as Elphaba more than any other actress ever. She was as close to Idina Menzel as we could get and her vocal range blew me away.

We didn’t get home until midnight.  Hannie B. is still sound asleep in her bed {with visions of witches dancing in her head?}.

I had so much fun with my daughter. It was a really, really great night.

PS. Up tonight: a date with my Hubby to see the Mormon Tabernacle Choir perform at an outdoor venue.  I am so cultured, aren’t I?

What a wonderful time with Hannie B! You were like two Cinderellas at the ball. I always thoroughly enjoy my one on one time with my little B.

Hannie looks more like Rapunzel though! Long beautiful hair!

One thing you're not Dragonfly is a wicked mom. I remember the first time my parents took me to see a real no kidding live musical performance, it was Oklahoma at the University of Utah. I can still see that production in my minds eye. That opportunity instilled in me a steadfast love for live theater and like Hannie B, a desire to be the star of the show.

What an interesting night that is! Sure you two had a blast!
Never seen Wicked... I will one day. I love going to the theater, the problem is that going to often is expensive.

You are an awesome Mom! My Dad took me to a lot of theater productions growing up. Those are some of my most cherished memories of growing up. Wicked is "to see" list.

Oh what a magical evening you girls must have had! One of my girl's absolute favorite.....and mine too! I just rocked out to Defying Gravity when I went running yesterday morning. Every word of every song memorized. Is that embarrassing?

I enjoyed Wicked and look forward to the time when I can take my girls. Not much broadway around here.

What a wonderful night together.

Oh how fun! I've wanted to see Wicked ever since you told me about it. Maybe someday.
