In Need Of A Boost . . .

IMG_9249

My man Ollie refuses to sit in his high chair anymore.  Instead, he wants to sit on a big chair like the rest of us with a boost from the phone book. It definitely makes for some sketchy meal times, but it’s so cute to see that little tush sitting on the phone book reaching the table. He’s growing so fast!

It’s been a weird week for me.  The time change has completely kicked my butt.  I have fallen asleep on our couch in the middle of the day three times this week from sheer exhaustion. I’m caught in a vicious cycle of random nap/late bedtime/can’t wake in the morning.

The constant tiredness combined with sadness and despair over what is going on in Japan has made for a somber mood around here.  I feel a bit like Ollie – in need of a boost so I can at least be at eye level with reality. It is hard to handle right now.

This much I still  know: we have a loving Father in Heaven. An earthquake and tsunami do not change this fact. He loves all of his children.  Sometimes he allows hard things to happen to wonderful people.  When these things happen, it is an opportunity for us to show more compassion and love to our fellow human beings. I am so encouraged by the dignity, unity and grace of the Japanese people.  They have a lot to teach me. This has been a chance for me to exercise faith and use the power of prayer to lift others up – to give them a boost.  Right now, aside from sending a financial contribution, it is all I know I can do to help the people of Japan.

Everyone is in need of a boost right now. How about you?  Can I send you a phonebook to help out?  Or better – a prayer!

I'm right there with you. It's been tough following the news in Japan.

Feelings are all over the map: despair over all the human loss, helplessness as we watch the events unfold: shame at the relief that my family is safe; anger that we cannot seem to repair the technology we created; joy at the miraculous rescues, the resilient human spirit and the many instances of brotherly love; faith, unshaken, in a loving, all powerful God.

My boost this week has been in the form of children: giddy with happiness as they play outside in warmer temperatures, climbing trees, getting muddy, running around, going down slides.

I agree with Apis. Especially the part about my kiddos bringing me joy. I was in great need of that this week.

It's been a challenging heart breaking week but there is much to be grateful for; it's okay though to mourn with those who mourn.

Quit taking those naps and get to bed earlier that will give you a boost.

Keep praying.

I can totally relate to this post! The time change has been tough this year. I stayed up really late a couple of nights and then it hit me and I took the kids to school and came back and slept til 10:30 and I was still tired all day! You are right, everyone is in need of a boost. I will get mine this week-end, my mom is in town for a visit.

Owlie sure looks like his daddy in this picture! The time change kicked my butt too....every single morning. I'm hoping this weekend will set me straight.

Owlie looks so grown up in this picture.
The news about Japan are so so sad and everytime I saw the news my heart ached for the people suffering there. Hope everything starts to get better!

One curious thing is that in the USA you already did the time change. Here in Europe we do it on the last Sunday of March. I'm really looking forward to it!
