New?

{Image by me at the United States Botanic Garden}

We ended our deliciously long Christmas break with a morning of worship at church and spent the rest of the day together as a family watching old home videos and finishing up our holiday puzzle. A few random thoughts after a truly restful and great day:

*How am I ever going to teach sixteen 11 year-olds the Gospel when five of them {boys, natch} won't even sit still?
*Why wouldn't my baby take a bottle yesterday while I tried to teach sixteen 11 year-olds the Gospel?
*Man, my kids were so dang cute and funny when they were little.
*Man, now my kids are big and I'm trying to figure out how that happened!
*Why am I such a geek when it comes to puzzles?
*Puzzles, my little end-of-the-year happy therapy place!
*Should it ever be so cold that I have to wear a scarf and sweater over a sweater and socks AND slippers in my own house? I say NO!
*Why on earth would my baby tease me by sleeping through the night four times and then decide he was joking?

Enough with the randomness {though I could go on . . . for hours.}

It's a new year. For us that means taking the first week to sincerely think about the things we want to work on this year to help us become better people. Tonight we will gather for Family Home Evening and discuss our goals, sharing them with each other in hopes of support and encouragement. I usually try to choose goals in specific areas, such as spiritual, emotional, physical, etc. This year, however, I'm feeling the need for pretty much a complete life overhaul, so I think no corner will be left untouched!

The Hubby is back at work, the kids are back in school, the Christmas tree is down and my house feels very, very empty. Time to get working on new things around the house and a new, better me. Hope your new year is off to a great start!

ps. Feel free to share a new year goal with me!

Gorgeous picture Samantha! Your photography skillz are becoming legendary!

My resolutions this year are to get organized. Clear out the clutter. Keep my temper on a tight leash. Keep the prayers and church on a never ending rotation. Prepare my kids for the big move. Possibly add an additional member to our family of the feline variety. =)

My goals are the same as last years because, the road to good habits, attempts at perfection and changing who I am is a never ending on going quest.

A few..improve relationships, serve others more, become a gym rat.

I feel like I need a life overhaul every year! I'm a back to basics gal trying to glean the most from the simple routine stuff this year. Hmm . . . too much could spill forth so I'll stop there ;) Can't wait to see what the year holds - it'll be a good one cuz I love the ones I'm travelin' with!

Mine is a serious committment to not miss a day with the scriptures... As opposed to prior half-hearted commitments. :0)

So are you no longer in YW or did you do double duty and teach a class on top of that?

My #1 goal for 2010:
Tell the people I love that I love them everyday.

Oh my goodness! Do we even live in the same place? I was just at the U.S. Botanic Gardens last week!
