Passing On The Power Of The Rosette . . .

The kids are doing a great job embracing the giving spirit so far this Season! The elementary school is having a 'Winter Warmth' drive right now and RedDog and Hannie B. came to me wanting to donate some hats, scarves or mittens which they offered to pay for on their own.

So we hit our local Target store looking for items that would fit their budget which was very, very small. We found some great stretchy gloves in the kids section that were only a dollar a pair. There were also hats for a dollar, but there were no 'girl colors' left, so Hannie had to settle for a non-descript gray hat to go with her purple gloves. I told her I thought we might be able to spruce it up a bit when we got home.

Here's the hat before we fixed it up. A little boring, right?

And here it is after I added a couple of rosettes {made from fabric scraps leftover from a skirt repurposing project}and a button from the bottom of our junk drawer. Getting better, don't ya think?

Here's a close up of the rosettes. I left the edges raw so they will fray a little bit, which I think will add to the charm.

And here's Hannie B. modeling the new and improved hat. She liked it so much we might have to go back and buy another one to make for her and at a cost of $1 and a total project time of 10 minutes, I think it's right up my alley.

Ps. Cute baby, no?

Very cute project...I would have never thought to do that with a hat...have you seen the basic tee-shirts with rosettes added along the neckline? They are popping up everywhere and they're really cute!

I am terribly impressed by your talent on making things look much more better and beautiful! And you usually do it for a really good price! I take note!
And I have to say, both Hannie B and Ollie look great at the photo, really cute!

Cute hat, cute girl and ever so always cute Ollie.

Just goes to show that you don't need much to add beauty. A little goes a long way!

I love this idea! Finding winter hats for my princess is getting a lot harder as she is getting older. In her own words, "I am not a little girl anymore!"
How did you attach the rosettes to the hat?

Jennifer, I just hand sewed the rosettes on this time since I wasn't sure if hot glue would hold up. Dragonfly

Hannie B, you and your mom make everything Tres Chic. Some little girl is going to be very happy in her new warm hat and gloves.

I was just going to comment "tres chic" but I see the Queen already stole that one! Hannie B continues to reign as the Top Fashionista.
