In His Humble Opinion . . .

See this picture here? See the inappropriate hand gesture my three month old is making? Yeah - that's pretty much how he feels about sleep. He doesn't care for it, doesn't need it and by golly, he's gonna scream if you try to make him do it, so back off sister!

The issue isn't getting him to fall asleep. He does that like a champ. It's getting him to STAY asleep. The current trend is leaning towards "mini-snoozes" that last about 15 minutes a stretch. Not cool!

I've tried it all - white noise machines, sleeping him on his tummy for naps, nursing him, not nursing him, ferberzing hime, letting him cry it out, having a special nap time ritual, having a special nap time blankie, having a special nap time place and nothing seems to be working. And now I am going to go curl up in the fetal position in a corner and have myself a little nap time breakdown.

My sweet little Ollie needs some sleep. His sweet little momma needs some time to check her sanity.

Any advice {or condolences} would be greatly appreciated.

{And no, I did not pose him for this picture. My intent was to get a shot of him using his Bumbo chair for the first time. I guess he told me where to go.}

Hi Sam - Your baby is seriously cute. I want to snuggle him. I don't have any genius sleeping advice, except that all too soon he'll be a teenager and he'll want to sleep all the time. Does that help???? Hang in there. I know it doesn't seem like it when you feel like you're going to pass out, but it really does go by too fast.

He is so stinkin' cute! I know exactly how you feel. I suffered through the same thing with three out of four of my children. I'm lucky I have any sanity left. It is brutal! Sorry I have no good advice. I tried everything possible to no avail. I do know how you feel if that helps.

The swing?

The Queen?

The Weisbluth book again in 1.5 months. I seem to recall 4 months was a magic transition period.

I wish I could send you some sanity in the mail.

One of mine was like that too.
Just know that this nap deficit will end and that your house, other kiddos, hubby and YOU will survive.

Pretty much ditto to everything Apis Melliflora said.

And then try to muster up enough patience that you don't kill your husband if after 6 months of you not getting more than 2 hours of consecutive sleep each night and dealing with a colicky baby during the day he says "Honey, I know this is hard, but it is not the end of the world." (Yes, I am speaking from experience here. You may want to warn him in advance not to say anything similar, because it could get very, very ugly.)

He's worth it. Call when you're at the breaking point. I'm available you know!

So sorry about the mini nap stage, I hated that one. My advise: call grandma! I wish I could take him for a few hours to snuggle. I miss little babes!

Sorry about the sleep deprivation....You probably don't want to hear this, but Lottie is a great sleeper. If she wasn't through all I've been through, I'd probably still be in the hospital.

Ollie is already in a Bumbo? He's an over achiever already! Lottie's still working on holding her head up unassisted.

He is sooo cute, esp. sitting like a big boy in the bumbo seat. My only advice is call grandma and hang in there.

My kids slept in a car seat until they were four months old. That's the ONLY way I could get them to sleep without me holding them all night and day.

I'm very sorry little Ollie doesn't want to sleep. He's very cute giving the bird to everyone though. ;)

I like a man who can express his feelings. You may be suffering now, dear Dragonfly, but Ollie's wife will thank you one day!

Oh, and my advice? One word: Grammy.

I put one of my shirts that I have worn recently in the crib with my baby.

Hah hah hah! Hahahahhhaaa.... and now the laughter is turning into tears for you. I have no words of advice, I have only condolences. :(. Oh, here's my advice-- eat more candy pumpkins because, by golly, you've earned it. (and you might as well have some sugar highs!)
