The Twins . . .

{I do not recommend getting this close to a bird's nest with hatchlings inside. Mr. and Mrs. Finch were hovering very close by, tweeting madly, ready to swoop in and peck my eyes out if I harmed their young.}

Ha! Take that Blythe Cowbird! We successfully thwarted your efforts to sabotage the Finch Family's nest. And now here, making their photographic debut, are Flora and Fillipe {miraculously cured of his tumor}.

Aren't soap operas great?! Especially when the good guys win and babies live! By the looks of these babies, we'll soon have an empty nest in our planter. Hey - does anyone besides me thing they are kind of ugly?

So our aviary saga comes to an end. No worries though - we've got another nest in the other planter and a new nest in the holly bush out back. Let your neighborhood birds know that the Lee's are accepting applications for next spring.

ps. You are all VERY observant! Hannie B did get her haircut {very short, very cute} as did RedDog. There is also a tooth missing thanks to our first corn on the cob of the season. These kinds of changes are part of what makes summer so fun!

I'm glad your bird babies survived but I do have to admit, like you, that I don't think they're very cute babies. I think robin babies are cuter. Hannah's short hair is very cute. Addy and Mia have a short a-line haircut and I love, love, love it. Super cute and easy to take care of.

Beauty is all in the eye of the beholder. You can bet momma and papa Finch think their twins are so tweet and beautiful.

You have baby birds!! I want a nest. We have a new blue jay in the neighborhood and every time we see him (her?) Gracie and I marvel at the beauty! Maybe there's a secret nest somewhere?

That is a lot of birds nests you have on your parcel of land. I agree with you that those little birds are not the most attractive I've ever seen.

Also I think Hannie B and Redog are adorable with their new haircuts.

Just curious... How were able to determine that the little finches are of two different sexes?
