Our Birthday Traditions . . .

An awesome breakfast {preferably at IHOP}.

A goodie to take to school and share with friends {preferably containing unhealthy amounts of sugar}.

A bouquet of balloons {preferably ones that don't pop before we get home}

to write birthday wishes on and release into the ether ala Nie Nie {preferably on a sunny day like this one so you can watch them soar away}.

A smattering of presents {preferably under $50 in total}.

And a cake with candles for blowing out after being serenaded by two renditions of Happy Birthday {some prefer the traditional, while we enjoy the macabre . . . see lyrics below}.
Also {but not documented in photos for this post} waking up to the "BIRTHDAY DOOR" {long obnoxious plastic fringe from IKEA that some tacky college kid would have hanging from his door}. And no chores for the birthday boy or girl.
The OTHER Happy Birthday Song Lyrics {sung in a lifeless monotone}
Happy Birthday, Ungh.
Happy Birthday, Ungh.
Gloom and misery in the air
People dying everywhere
But Happy Birthday, Ungh.
Happy Birthday, Ungh.
One year closer to the grave
Think of all the food we'll save
But Happy Birthday, Ungh.
Happy Birthday, UNGH!
