Urban Warfare . . .

After a truly harrowing Primary Program Practice yesterday, I came home, moped for a bit and then felt like I needed to destroy something on the day of rest. So I began disassembling the armoir in my bedroom - the very first piece of furniture the Hubby and I ever bought together.

This psychotic act was the first combat move in my war on my urban dwelling. You see, my in-laws are coming in a month, so I suddenly feel the need to tackle all house projects that I have been putting off for months or even years. (Shout out to the kitchen ceiling, which still hasn't been painted going on four and a half years now.) There is a reason why the Hubby calls our place "The House That Guests Built". It is because I work on getting things done in spurts generally clustered around when we have visitors coming.

Today I got dressed up in my camouflage bandanna and favorite tee shirt which features a fish prominently on the front. (actually, it's a hideous Bass Pro Shop shirt that was a gag gift from the Hubby) In my battle uniform I tackled sanding down the entire armoir and finished painting a set of chairs for my dining room. Yay for me!

I love doing house projects - sometimes at the expense of feeding and bonding with my kids . . . so it is probably good that I only get crazy like this a few times a year. Of course I may get less blog time in, which seems to be the norm lately anyway, but I will be sure to create a post with some pictures of all my finished projects and a post about the Primary Program and whether or not it drives me postal.

Rachelle does weird stuff when we have people come over too. Kind of drives me nuts because I used to feel like nobody saw us in our natural environment.

I was also looking at books you had recently read and saw "The hiding Place". Good book. Anyway I can't type much because I have a baby in one hand but I liked your blog.

Would houses ever get decorated or projects finished if it weren't for guests? I have friends coming out to visit me in TX, and my first thought upon ticket confirmation: yipee! Now we get to build the entertainment center and furnish the media room and paint the powder room and kitchen!!! Neurotic, yes. During these times, I find it helpful to have an adequate supply of protein bars for the kids to fend for themselves...

Hello dear friend, I was feeling out of touch with you and I had a moment when both boys are sleeping (they never coordinate) and Grace is watching Higglytown Heros....I am forever in awe of your project tackling abilities and I just want to sit down and bawl when I think of the MANY projects on my list destined to remain undone for a long while. When you finish your list can you fly out to do mine?
