The Asian Update . . .

If you're reading to find out what the situation is with China, stop now. There is no new news - besides the fact that people who know the Hubby AND live in Shanghai are coming out of the woodwork and emailing with appetizing tidbits and coercive nuggets to tempt and lure us to join them in China. It's odd.

But in truly exciting and appetizing Asian news, we finally hit the new Leesburg Pei Wei on Saturday night and it was oh so tastey. After a great meal with great friends, I took a stab at pronouncing the Chinese word printed on the back of the fortune from the cookie (with Romanized pronounciation key, mind you). As luck would have it, I couldn't pronounce a single word correctly - darn that fluent Mandarin speaker for knowing the right way to say it! Instead of the Chinese word for "black", I should have had the Chinese word for "superloser"! That's just about all the Asia I could wrap my brain around this weekend.

I've been thinking more and more about you moving to China. I have three words: GO FOR IT!!! What a cool experience for your kids. Make sure they learn Chinese and they will be set! I'm jealous.

Don't worry about the language. There are only three phrases you need to know how to say in Chinese.

Travis taught them to me and they have served me very well.

1. Niru Pigu Hen Haw Cow
2. Shing Guada Pigu
3. Oshidi (I actually think that one may be Japanesse).

Ask your husband what they mean if you don't already know.
