Yay for Hannah!

This cute little girl and these two great works of art she made have just won first place at the District level for the PTA Reflections Competition! Way to go Hannah Banana. We're really proud of Hannah! She's had little artsy bones since she was about two and can often be found creating, cutting, gluing and pasting fanciful works of art that decorate our home.

While many people doubt the authenticity of Hannah's work (a judge last year deemed her piece "not age appropriate for a First Grader"), those who know Hannah, have seen what she can do and know that she is a pretty great artist! Hannah's two works will now be taken to the State of Virginia level, and if they place there, could go on to the National level.

What a fun day for Hannah!

"Not age appropriate for a 1st grader" --- I'm guessing that's because they thought it was too good. My blood boils. No child left behind translates to all children except the truly exceptional who can just make due because they're exceptional right? We can't promote the exceptional! That would make people feel bad!!! **off soapbox, you can obviously tell i've had some issues here and i'm fuming for her**
HOWEVER, this year... YEAH!!! Congrats Hannah!!
I painted something for a Reflections thing in 2nd or 3rd or maybe 1st (?) and won something. All I know is that the painting is still collecting dust in my closet at the parents house and it is the joy of my mother's heart.

You are amazing Miss Hannah! We are loving your art work! Congrats! However, I am still fuming over the "not age appropriate...." Can she help it if she is an artistic prodigy?!!
